Just a quick hit from us.  According to Matt Devlin and other sources, the Raptors have picked up the 4th year extension option on Marco Belinelli's rookie contract.  This will secure a young player who will hopefully have the chance to blossom into a consistent piece on this roster. Buying into potential is something I can always approve of, if the price is cheap.

Nice move...

… but not terribly surprising (with the Italian front office). I think he’s shown enough to deserve the extension.

Haha. No offence meant to our wonderful Italian front office — just pointing out the obvious. They have to take care of their boy!

And we got him for Devean George. Wow! This kid looks good, but I’ll wait and see after a full season.

Nice move by BC.

?

The deadline for all rookie contract extensions is this Saturday.

When would you suggest they extend him? Never?

I guess B.C. made him an offer ‘he couldn’t refuse’……

Well, it is a team option, so… you’re right!

Excerpts from David Stern's favorite book, Blowing the Whistle, by Tim Donaghy

That was a very interesting read. I almost missed it as I didn’t think about expanding the Lunchbox links, glad I did.

It really puts things in perspective when you see the Bosh blocking call last night that everyone knew was a charge on James. I’m sure this kind of stuff happens all the time. It’s infurating as a fan and I can only imagine how frustrating it must be as a player/coach.

Instead of spending his time trying to bury the book, Stern should be taking a close look at fixing the root cause of the problem. This kind of stuff is toxic!
