Bosh to Re-Sign
Didn't take long for the off-season to heat up for the Raps. The Toronto Star is reporting that Bosh has agreed to a six-year extension with the club after meeting with new GM Bryan Colangelo.
This can only be described as a great day for the Toronto Raptors franchise. OBVIOUSLY, more to come.

After a season of Bosh seeming noncommital when asked about his future with the Raptors, its nice to see that he came out with a quick and enthusiastic decision. I believe this was Colangelo's first meeting with Bosh, and how Bosh became so optimistic afterwards, it must speak volumes of Colangelo's ability to instill confidence in him with the people he talks to.
I believe it was one of his assistant GM's that said upon hearing the news of Colangelo being hired as a Raptor that he may not build a winner overnight, but he will convince everyone overnight that he can.

Yes, great news, although most assumed this is a no-brainer on the part of both Chris Bosh and the Raptors braintrust.
I think we're all waiting for Bryan Colangelo to start tinkering with the Raptors machine. Scratch that: more like "overhauling".

Colangelo to-do-list:
1. Fire Mitchell
2. Get ink on paper w/ Bosh
3. trade EWilliams + AWilliams + 2nd round pick in 2008 for Jerry Sloan (assuming they have cap space, which i think they do)
4. sign-and-trade Mike James for Jamal Crawford
5. Waive Hoffa
6. convince Noah to leave college
7. win the draft lottery
8. draft Noah
9. Sign Ben Wallace (get Bosh to convince him)+ 3-4 low salary folks to fill out the roster (including JYD - don't tell me he's not better than Hoffa even now)
06/07 Prediction (if all of the above happens): Raps Make playoffs with 5th seed in Eastern Conference
06/07 Prediction (otherwise): Tanking for Greg Oden begins in January.

He still has to sign. But surely this is a sign.
Wouldn't be holding my breath for Big Ben, Tommy. But one step at a time, right?

So is it a given that he's signing for the max?? I know we can't afford to lose him, but every dollar that he signs for under the max is money that can go towards filling the many other holes on our roster.
In my opinion way too many players are getting the max... players like LeBron, Kobe, Wade who can pretty much single-handedly carry their team into the playoffs deserve the max, players like Zach Randolph don't. Bosh, while good, obviously isn't at that level as the aforementioned elite players (see Raps 27-55 record).
In order to build a championship team, we'll need to have above average players at every position (a la Detroit), and that takes careful cap management.
Having said all that, I'm glad he's resigning, it would have been a disaster if he left.

Bosh is going to get max without a doubt. I think he'll be taking this team on his shoulders in a couple years (if not earlier) anyways.
You're not going to ever sign him for less, nor insult him with that type of offer.
This is fantastic news. Of course, being the Raptors (even with Colangelo in charge), I'll wait until it's official to get really excited.
