they traded for the wrong davis. it shd be KENDRA so that the kobes won't
explode for another 82 pts. that what the raptors need-someone with some nastiness.they are all soft and too nice

by williams on Feb 3, 2006 4:21 PM EST reply actions

Isn't this the second time that these guys have been traded for each other?
Has that happened before?

by Johnny Boy on Feb 3, 2006 4:28 PM EST reply actions

good trade give sigingin room over the summer cause Davis contract is over this summer bring back James sign our first round pick in a bad draft year this year who were we gonan get with our 22nd pick probalby no one... Also We will have about 10 mil left to sign free agents.

If this deal has been on the table all this time, why did they wait until now? Was Babcock too scared or something . . .

I wonder if Antonio will report or if he'll pull a Mourning, I would guess the latter but we'll have to see. This may cause some serious upheavel in the locker room as it seems like the team liked him (especially Peterson).

More chaos in Raptorland . . . although I'd like to make it clear that I love this trade and I think the Knicks are going to be sick of Rose's "me against the world" after about five games.

Trading the same players, based on initial research (props to SS on this one) has happened twice:

Jay Humphries played for the Jazz from 1992 until 1995, he was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks for Blue Edwards. He was also traded to Boston for Edwards.

And Tim Thomas for Keith Van Horn, draft day and again in 2004.

by HOWLAND on Feb 3, 2006 4:39 PM EST reply actions

no actualy the original trade was penny for Jalen and a 1st but they were reporting it was gonna be penny our 1st round and a second rounder.

by !~LIL Scrappy~! on Feb 3, 2006 5:14 PM EST reply actions

Free at last....Jalen Rose is free at last.

by Raps Hata on Feb 3, 2006 5:17 PM EST reply actions

I've heard the Davis trade just as many times as the Penny trade.

by Aaron on Feb 3, 2006 5:25 PM EST reply actions

Finally, s#@t is getting done. But are they gonna trade James... ? They've got to, in my opinion. Raptor fans have watched free agent after free agent walk. Mike talks a good game about wanting to be here but let's not be naive. And Bosh needs to accept that a stabilized roster is still a season or two away.

by Josh on Feb 3, 2006 7:11 PM EST reply actions

I'd give my left arm to see the look on Antonio Davis' face when he found out he was coming back to Canada...

by rapfan on Feb 3, 2006 9:08 PM EST reply actions

good that jalen rose is gone, he such a ball hog, and can bearly ever cluth

by rapfan on Feb 3, 2006 9:10 PM EST reply actions

Rumours that Davis won't report to TO...frankly, I don't care! he would offer some rebounding on the glass, but other than that I would rather not have him bring a bad attitude anywhere near this team as we try and reassemble! Wouldn't want his kids to have to learn the metric system again anyways!
next steps...sign James to put a smile on Bosh's face and sign at least one guy in the offseason to improve the front court.

by Clark on Feb 3, 2006 10:25 PM EST reply actions

Davis in all likelihood won't show, and that's fine.

Good trade. Once I heard it was the Denver pick I was fine with it.

Jalen was a professional but his salary was an albatross. He had to go.

Good job by Embry. Now to get rid of Eric Williams and the hat trick will be complete.

by Dave on Feb 3, 2006 10:47 PM EST reply actions

sad to see jalen go; i'll miss his interviews, but it's a good trade. i suspect davis will report - apparently him and sam mitchell go way back. let by-gones be says I - he could provide some good leadership and some relief for bosh. but even if he doesn't report, it's a good move for next year and I don't see this hurting our performance even in the short term.

by chris benjamin on Feb 4, 2006 12:41 AM EST reply actions

i still would of kept the first rd pck we need all the bodies we can get ,the knick salary situation the one most hilarious especially being jerome james contract what garbage.

Good trade on the whole because of sal cap can be used for bosh maybe james and magloire down the road in two years. I still see a pick coming for eric williams.

by FANTASY GM on Feb 4, 2006 3:10 AM EST reply actions

So . . . can we re-sign James, Bosh and get two guys with this extra $10-15 mill.

Here are some interesting free agents for next year (stats:ppg/rpg/apg 2005-06):

Matt Harpring 11/5/1
Bonzi Wells 15/8/3
Keith Van Horn 10/4/1
Al Harrington 19/7/3
Jason Terry 16/2/3
Joel Przybilla 7/7/1
Nene--hurt but 10/6/0 2004-05

I know there are more guys, but these are the ones I have identified to be potential Raps for next season. Harrington is probably out of their reach, but the rest have possibilities. Any thoughts?

by Aaron on Feb 4, 2006 8:48 AM EST reply actions

i didnt like the trade when it was official, still don't like it now. why did we throw in the first rounder? to me any first rounder is good. and we gave them cash too? geez, i thought rose's salary is more than AD's. if this is a 1 for 1 trade i would be ok, but not with the pick and cash. jalen has been playing great, bad time to trade him. plus out of all people we got back AD, at least try to bring in someone we can use. i know cap is good and what not, but geez, why the first rounder?

by Cool on Feb 4, 2006 9:51 AM EST reply actions

Cool
If Rose's salary is more than Davis's it makes sense that cash goes to NY
Best time to trade Rose is when he's playing well the 31 v NY obviously was good timing
Dont forget he has a monster contreact next year whilst Davis is finished - hence the first rounder

by AndyC on Feb 4, 2006 10:42 AM EST reply actions

Hey Aaron - Don't forget Peja Stojakovic! He's expressed his fondess of the Serbian community in T. in the past.

Can't wait till they buy Davis out, and I hope they find the exact same seat for Kendra when they go back to Chicago.

Can anyone tell me why no one's offered a contract to Latrell Sprewell, Robert "Tractor" Traylor, or Glen "Big Dawg" Robbinson? I think Traylor could be the Big O of the new Raptor era! ;)

by Ustat on Feb 4, 2006 10:48 AM EST reply actions

Hmm . . . I think Peja's too good for the Raps, don't you?

by The C-Cat on Feb 4, 2006 11:48 AM EST reply actions

Big O era part II...I like it ha ha.

Love the deal as now fans can finally start seeing light at the end of the tunnel for this club. Who knows if Davis will report but now we've got some money to work with. Nene, Pryzbilla, love to see either here for the right price. And C-Cat - don't count Peja out...would anyone have thought Joe Johnson would have picked never making the playoffs again in Atlanta over winning titles in PHOENIX? Money talks like Charlie Sheen...

by The Cincinnati Kid on Feb 4, 2006 12:22 PM EST reply actions

Any news i heard magloire might be dealt in off season ,maybe to raps any ideas fellow fans.

by FANTASY GM on Feb 4, 2006 5:10 PM EST reply actions

AndyC: right, i messed up the math on the salary. my bad.

After cooling down abit, i guess i'm sort of ok with the trade now. I know we are sort of hype about nene, but i'm really not sure if we want him. he's injured and won't play this year, and it seems he's just ok when he plays. I don't know if i want Prybilla either. Peja could be a good fit if we can give him open shots, i know peja could be deadly but i think mopete is more versatile than peja is many areas already. but of cuz, getting magloire could help the team on the floor and also in the marketing areas.

by Cool on Feb 4, 2006 5:32 PM EST reply actions

The Knicks are the greatest team in the history of western civilization.

by Jawbone on Feb 6, 2006 2:17 AM EST reply actions

Don't forget.. more cap space=more trade flexibility. Now we can trade for teams wanting to unload a contract (ie Magliore or whatever) for a smaller contract (ie E Williams/MoPete/J Graham/Bonner and/or + 1or2 2nd rnders or whatever)
